April 2014 Urthbox Classic Review

I ordered an Urthbox clear back on March 7th, and finally got it April 30th. I'm not quite sure why the delay was so great, but the box turned out to be pretty cool.

Urthbox costs $25 a month, but I got mine for $15 with a coupon.

I started out by digging to the bottom of the box. These tortillas were in the vegan box too (they're listed as a "bonus" item). I can always use ingredients for quesadillas!

These orange pearls were awesome. They were little jelly orange bits covered in chocolate. I shared them with my family, but they disappeared pretty quickly.

This sounds super good, but I'm saving it for breakfast, hiking, or a hungry rainy day.

These Unreal bars are supposed to be healthier than the traditional candy alternatives, made with better ingredients and that. It was a pretty good little candy bar (and no eggs, somehow!). I had my mom try the other one, and she said that the chocolate is much better than a Snickers (the obvious inspiration). My main complaint about these is that it's impossible to actually find real nutritional information on their website. They just link you to some advertising-riddled FAQs.

I wasn't a huge fan of this, but my mom liked it. Caveman Cookies aren't bad, but nothing special in my opinion.

Another "bonus" item, my mom and I both expected these to be terrible, but they were actually pretty good. The parakeet definitely loved them!

I actually bought this exact item, down to the flavor and everything, at the grocery store the night before I got my box. I will always take seaweed snacks though, so it's absolutely okay!

It was at this point that I realized I did not order the vegan box. And by realized, I mean "freaked out and wondered why they sent me the wrong box, then looked at the website and realized I was just an idiot." These contain fish oil, so I gifted them to my dad.

I don't know who eats pâté or what it tastes like, but this vegan stuff was pretty gross. It wasn't so gross I couldn't eat it, but it was gross enough that I didn't enjoy it.

More delicious vegan macaroons for me! These were "choco" and I shared. They were amazing. Not my favorite macaroons so far, but I'm certainly not complaining.

I don't know how many "bonus" items you can claim to have before they just become items, but here's another "bonus" dates! The box also came with a coupon for dates, which I gave to my dad because I never eat them quick enough to justify buying them.

Weirdly enough, I also got one of these at the grocery store the night before I got the box! My box came with two of these, and they were great! My sister really liked them, as did the rabbit. It's nice when a real fruit strip actually tastes as good as a Fruit Roll-Up, but it usually doesn't happen.

I just mixed some of this with water, and while it looks icky and murky, it tastes absolutely fine. It's a very faint blueberry flavor and mostly you can't taste anything. That seems like a pretty easy way to get vitamins and benefits of superfood.

They also sent a bunch of coupons!

This box seems to be a decent value for $25 (even better for $15), but I did decide to cancel my membership for now. The shipping time is just crazy.

April 2014 BarkBox Review

                               

It's been a while guys! How is everyone? I'm gonna show you what my mom got in her April BarkBox!

                             

First things first, here's the box it's shipped in. This box was a little banged up but luckily nothing was damaged!

                              

Here is the first look. The tissue paper is still my favorite part! Of course this month's box theme is Spring!

                             

Spring has Sprung! 

                              

So the first thing I grab, of course, has to be this weird looking guy! I mean look at him, he's so creepy it's cute! These are Water Loopies, by Loopies Toys. These toys are thoughtfully made with double stitching and extra squeakers so they last longer. These are the Alien Spectors and  they are made for playing in the water. I think this retails for $14.95. 

                             

Both of the dogs enjoyed this! They played tug-o-war for while!

                               

The dogs were wanting some treats so next is Bocce's Bakery Beef Bourguignon! These treats have no preservatives, they are wheat free and sources in the USA. These were made with fresh carrots, roasted hormone free beef, and parsley, they pride themselves by using human grade ingredients which is good for dogs with sensitive stomachs and allergies! This bag runs for $8.50. 

They both LOVED the treats! Look how happy they are!!

                                   

The next bag of treats are Dogs Love Kale, these are all natural, healthy and gluten free! Of course kale is the main ingredient.

                                    

This is a bully stick by Barkworthies. I'm not sure what to say about this, there was only one so this went back into the box for later! It is valued at about $3. 

                                    

Last but not least is Mr. Barksmith's Cool Treats Smoothies for Dogs in carrot cake. All you do is freeze and eat these! They are made with human-grade food and natural ingredients. Again, there was only one of these so back into the box it went!

April 2014 Love with Food Box Review

                                  

This box has to be the best snack box I've ever gotten! I've been subscribed to Love with Food for about a year now so it's about time I review it! Love with Food is $12 a month, and they send you healthy snacks every month. Love with Food also donates a meal to feed a hungry child with every box that is bought. Let's open it up!

The first thing I saw was this bright red package of Wild Hibiscus Herbal Tea by Heart-tée. This tea can be ordered from Europe from the Wild Hibiscus Trade Shop for about $7. I can't wait to brew this up and drink it!! 

                                      

This little card gives some information on some different ways to enjoy your hibiscus tea, making it into popsicles, iced tea, and even a sangria! Hibiscus has many health benefits like lowering your blood pressure, and cholesterol. I'll have to order some online if I enjoy this so I can try some if the ideas on this card! (I do love sangrias!!)

                                      

Oh my gosh I LOVE these! It's a waffle cookie that you set on the edge of your glass while drinking hot tea, coffee, or coco and it melts and gets warm and soft and amazing! It's the perfect addition to a warm cup of tea! 

                                     

This is a BumbleBar organic energy bar. I'm not too thrilled with this but I'll give it a try, I don't really like almonds but again I'll try it. These are $2 apiece. 

                                    

Again with the almonds! These are glazed almonds with cranberries honey and sea salt by Sahale snacks and retail for about $1 apiece. I opened these just to give them a try and I'm gonna say I didn't like them at all, not even the cranberries. If she doesn't mind that I already opened it I'll probably see if Emma (E.S.) wants to finish these off. 

                                    

This is chocolate mint creamed honey by Vintage Bee. I'm a bit hesitant about what to do with this, I don't think it would be the best thing to put it green tea, (which is what I normally do with honey) When I looked up this product it recommended to use this on cakes and brownies or even in bread recipes! I'll have to decide the best way to enjoy this! For a 8 ounce jar it's $9.50. 

                                    

Next is a sample of fruit spread by Fiordifrutta. When I looked this product up I expected it to be pricey because it talked about how three pounds of fruit went into each 8 ounce jar of spread, but it's only about $6 a jar. I'll have to try this with some peanut butter for breakfast tomorrow!

                                   

Next is Crave Canyon popcorn. It is cane juice and sea salt kettle corn with anise (which tastes like licorice). Again, I was a little hesitant about this because I hate anything that tastes like licorice but I'm always willing to try something once. And now that I've tried it I must say I regret it, I don't like this at all. 

                                 

Last but not least is Orchard Blend Crunch Dried Fruit. I love dried fruit, especially apples! This is an apple and peach blend so I was very excited to try this, and I wasn't disappointed! Yummy!
